A few key points on these photos: the first photo on the left of my horse Ula was taken prior to her being completely on a balanced diet. While she doesn't look underweight, she is missing top line due to her not receiving her daily required amounts of essential amino acids. She has always had a shiny coat with dapples but once I balanced all her vitamin & mineral requirements and provided them at the correct ratios as well as adding flaxseed oil to her diet it was possible for her coat to get even better which is evident in the next photo.

I think it's important to point out the improvements to her coat, in particular her winter coat. I often hear people say, "my horse doesn't look as good with their winter coat" but here we can see Ula looks good all year round. Her dapples were not as noticeable in winter prior to her diet change, now they're noticeable all year round. She is on a low NSC diet which allows her to maintain her body condition very well. You can always find her ribs and she also has adequate musseling. Ula is in the 'adult at maintenance' category and is an extremely good doer.
